Commercial Apprenticeship Program

This is a four year program with a certificate of completion from the Department of Labor - Bureau of Apprenticeship, the State of Arizona, as well as National IEC and IECA of Arizona.  The program requires eight (8) semesters of course work.  Each course is a five (5) credit hour class that meets 2½ hours a night, two nights a week.  The classes are taken in order and the successful completion of all previous classes is a prerequisite to enrollment; all exceptions require the permission of the instructor and the executive director of IECA.

Students in the Phoenix metro area receive their course training at Gateway Community College (registration for classes should be done at the IECA office) with classes beginning each August. Classes in other parts of Arizona are set-up on an as needed basis; for more information on classes held in Yuma, contact the IECA office.

In addition to classwork, 8000 hours of on-the-job training is required.  Apprentices work for and are paid by assigned contractor members of the association.  Placement with a contractor is handled by the IECA apprentice coordinator.
